When Should You Make Changes to Your Macros?

I get so many questions around the topic of macros - what should they be, when should I adjust, should I carb cycle, is there a specific percentage to use, how do you know if they're working, etc. I think one of the most common questions though is in regards to when you should CHANGE your macros, or adjust them. Lets say you've decided to figure out your macros on your own and do this without a coach. Great! It can certainly be done, you just have to be patient and know when to make changes and pay attention to your body. Okay, so you have your macros. You've started at this certain caloric range, a specific number of carbs, proteins, and fats, and you have started weighing your food and tracking these targeted macros. But then you … [Read more...]

Add Some ZING to Your Breakfast

Breakfast time is my favorite time of the day. Seriously.. I go to bed dreaming of the morning and excited to wake up for two things: coffee and food. I could actually eat breakfast food all day, every day if I could. And lets not get started on coffee - you all know how obsessed I am with the stuff. Who's with me? ;) One thing that I cannot go without in the morning is sweetener. I'm not the type of person who can drink coffee un-sweetened or eat oatmeal without any type of sweetener to spruce things up a bit. I like things to be tasty and delicious, not only nutritious and satisfying. Born Sweet® Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener sent me some of their stevia packets to try and I tested them out on multiple things. The verdict? … [Read more...]

IIFYM Full Day of Eating

I haven't been super strict with tracking my macros lately, and it has been a nice break. However, I have some new goals and I'm the type of person that craves consistency, structure, and a plan. Call me crazy, but it's just how I am! I was watching an old video that I posted on my channel (about 4 months ago) when I pulled out of prep, and I stated that I probably wanted to start a prep in August. I thought about it, but I will be traveling in the beginning of December and I absolutely do not want to be on prep at that time. I do, however, want to start leaning out a bit. My reason for this is simple - my long term goals are more important to me right now than stepping on stage in a few months. Long term I really want to be able to … [Read more...]

High-Protein French Toast

Let's just take a moment of silence to admire this beautiful plate of french toast..... Okay, good. Now that we got that out of the way, lets talk about this french toast! It has been for EVER since I've had some french toast, but the other day I got the biggest craving for it. I had recently bought a loaf of trader joes light bread, and I knew it would be perfect for this recipe. Actually, lets be real, I bought that loaf of bread specifically for the french toast. Less carbs per slice = more slices. Volume food 101 people. Anyway, it's super easy to make. I kind of just threw ingredients into a bowl and prayed to the toast God's that it would workout. That's how I roll with recipes these days - the simpler, the … [Read more...]

Trader Joe’s Grocery Haul

I loooooove Trader Joes. I practically jumped with joy when they started opening them up all around Florida! We went so long without any trader joes within the entire state. Now I have one a few minutes away from my house, and I am so happy about that. I don't go too often, but it's always fun when I do! I enjoy seeing what other people buy, and I try to get something different each time so I figured I'd share this weeks haul.   These are AMAZING! The macros are good, minimal ingredients, easy to make, and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be buying them very often.             Saw this bread and decided to try it out! Mostly because you can use 3 slices for french … [Read more...]

Is Counting Macros Stressing You Out? Here’s the Simple Solution.

I love the fact that I can see how people find my blog, because it gives a better idea of what kind of topics people are searching for. That helps me helps YOU, which is one of the main reasons I do blog! If you couldn't guess, yes, someone found my blog by searching about macros and being stressed out. Someone also found my blog by searching "breast lesser egg" but that's a completely different scenario hahaha! Anyway, this actually isn't the first time I've seen this topic pop up in my searched for section. I've seen various different searched topics including "how to live life counting macros". It seems to be pretty common in the health and fitness world. I think there are two types of people: those who get super stressed out by … [Read more...]

What Food I’ve Been Eating and Loving Lately

We all love food, am I right? RIGHT. How about we take a look at what I've been eating lately? It's more of a conglomeration of food I've been eating in the past couple of weeks, not in one day.     Omelet variations! Normall I just do veggies and feta/goat cheese, but throwing black beans and mexican cheese was a good switch up. Topped with salsa, delicious.   Fruit, but more specifically, MANGOES. I'm obsessed, they are so good.   These little pints of heaven. Arctic zero sent me their chunky pints.. SO GOOD. So much better than their non-chunky flavors. I'm a sucker for stuff with chunks or crunch.   That cookie dough though.. my favorite flavor, for … [Read more...]

The Time I Got Published in a Magazine

Hey friends, happy Thursday! I was going to do a WIAW post yesterday, but I completely failed at taking photos of my meals yesterday. What else is new. No, but really. My memory can be super short-term sometimes. Oh well! I figured I'd join in on the Thinking Out Loud party that the lovely Amanda hosts.   1. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I'm studying for my ACE group fitness certification!   My NASM CPT cert expires in January, and to keep it going you need at least 2 CEU's to get it renewed. Since my degree is in Health Education, in most of the job/internships you must teach group fitness as part of the gig. So after getting some advice from Paige, I just went for it. I'm trying to study and … [Read more...]

You Have to Look at The Bigger Picture

I posted a photo the other day on instagram explaining how I was feeling lately. So many people I knew were competing this past weekend, and I just got super nostalgic and upset that I wasn't. This past weekend was Jr. National's, which is the show that I was initially prepping for before I decided not to compete this summer. I think that's the main reason why I got upset, and because everyone else was super lean when I was doing quite the opposite. I just started feeling like I needed to jump right back into prep, I wanted to stop reverse dieting, and I just wanted to be up on that stage. However, I know that's not an option right now. I KNOW I need the time off to build my metabolism, to regulate my hormones, to give my body a break, … [Read more...]
