Swanson Vitamin Natural & Cruelty Free Cosmetics

October 23, 2015

I’ve recently been looking into purchasing more natural cosmetics, as well as ones that are cruelty free. What you put into your body is important, but so is what you put on your body. My go-to is always Burt’s Bee’s products, and that’s what I’ve been using for moisturizer and things like that, but I wanted to give some other brands a go to experiment with some new products.

Swanson Vitamins actually reached out to me about their site. I’ve actually ordered from them before, and I’m definitely a fan. I love buying certain products online because it’s usually cheaper and just easier to do to. There are tons of online stores similar to Swanson, but I really like how they offer more of a variety of things and not just food. Their products range from food, to supplements, to vitamins, to beauty products, to herbs, to cosmetics, and much more.

I decided to look around and see what I could find, and I decided to try out some new things!

The Products

I’ll be honest, this one scared me. I’ve always heard that regular deodorant isn’t the best for you, so I gave this a go. I like the smell, and it definitely works. What I didn’t like was that it was very “wet” I guess you can say and I felt like I needed to wipe it off. Very interesting! Not sure if I would go out of my way to buy it, but it was worth a shot 😉

Definitely has great ingredients!

So you all know I’m sponsored by and love Slap, but my mom can’t have whey protein so I chose this plant-based protein powder for her! I did try it, and it’s very good and the taste AND macros are awesome.

I’ve had this cereal before, but I believe the other flavor. I love this stuff ! High in protein and pretty low in carbs. I believe they use soy-protein as well, so there is no dairy in it. It doesn’t have a fake protein taste which I really liked.

All-natural and cruelty free shampoo and conditioner. My hair felt great after using it, but I had two issues with these: 1. The shampoo wasn’t very sud-sy. Is that a word? I have no idea. But I hope ya’ll know what I mean. I like when shampoo gets super foamy, and this one didn’t at all. 2. The conditioner smelled kind of like hospital or something, so I wasn’t a fan of that since I love when my hair smells nice. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week, so when I do, it needs to smell nice. Other than that, it did fine with my hair!

I will definitely be on the look-out for some more natural and cruelty-free products, but I’m glad Swanson gave me the opportunity to try these products out!

Have you tried any natural cosmetics?

Any that you recommend?

    1. The reason The Jason products aren’t “sud-sy” is because they are a more natural line of products and don’t contain any of the “bad stuff” like sodium lauryl sulfate. SLS is an industrial foaming agent used in all sorts of industrial products as well as thousands of skin/hair care products like shampoos, body wash, toothpaste, etc. Although it gives you a nice lather it is a known skin irritant as well as potentially harming in other ways. It also strips any color out of your hair faster if you dye it. One brand you might like that’s a more “natural” line is Alba Botanica. It’s 100% vegetarian ingredients, no animal testing, free of artificial colors, SLS, parabens, phthalates, synthetic frangrances and the bottle is 100% recycled… The best part, all their stuff smells amazing!! Bodybuilder mango is my favorite. They also have a pineapple chapstick that is delicious! Haha. They have many other beauty products as well. If you get a chance, check them out. Getting used to the lack of a super sud-sy shampoo takes a little getting used to but your skin and hair will thank you for it!
