Show Day, Proud, & Passion

October 29, 2014

Happy Wednesday!! Half-way through the week, whoop whoop!

I finally got some professional stage shots, and I’m still on a high from this weekend. Man, what an experience. Thank you for all your comments on my last post! It means so much to me.

I posted this on instagram, but i’ll recap what I said here because it really sums it up perfectly.

“Are you proud of who you have become?” I saw this quote the other day and it really hit home for me and got me thinking. I can honestly say it feels great to be proud of yourself, and finally feel like you’re on the right path. I think back to where I was a year ago, and even four years ago. Four years ago I had no direction in my life.. I was lost, away at college for the first time and partying every single night. Yeah I got good grades, but I had no idea what my passion was, no idea what I wanted to do with my life, i had no hobbies other than getting into clubs and getting free drinks on ladies night

Something huge/bad happened to me that I am not proud of, but I’m glad it happened because it changed my direction and opened my eyes that I was going nowhere fast. I completely stopped partying, started my blog, changed majors, and doors immediately started opening up. I went through a ton of health issues dealing with my stomach, a tumor scare etc. But I trusted God, stayed strong, and got through it coming out even stronger.

And now here I am today.. Everything seems to be falling into place and I finally feel like I’m where I need to be going in the right direction… And I’m just getting started. I’m not sure what the future holds, but I know to trust God that he has a wonderful plan for my life. Figure out your passions, what fuels your fire, and doors will start opening up. If you feel lost and like your life has no direction, don’t give up! Don’t stop searching, it will come to you, I promise. Shit happens in life that you can’t control, but staying positive is something you can control. You are in control of your happiness.. Do what you love, help others, be a good person, be someone you would want to be around.. And be patient for amazing things to unfold in your life ❤️

Competing to me wasn’t about the glitz and the glam, how lean I could get, or a trophy. Of course that all comes along with the process, but It was about taking my passion (training and fitness) to the next level, about how far I’ve come, about all the obstacles I’ve had to face in my life leading up to this.

It was also about showing girls that you CAN get on stage prepping the healthy way, without drugs, without depleting water or sodium, without hours of cardio and starving yourself, without ANY extreme measures whatsoever, and without gaining 10-30 lbs immediately after the show.

I have so much more to say and thoughts so I will be writing them all out! For now, if you’re interested in footage from show day, check out my latest YouTube video!

Have a blessed day everyone! <3

    1. Thank you for illustrating that hard work and SMART diet can lead to success. You (obviously) look incredible, and while, no, I do not have your natural physique, we all have the ability to look our absolute best if we really do want it and work for it. And we can do it in a way that doesn’t screw us up mentally or physically for the long run!

That said, I hope that your skin returns to a normal hue 😀
Again, congratulations, cheers, and on to the next (after properly reveling in the current glory, obvs!)!

    1. Well you SHOULD be proud!!
I honestly think you are setting such a good example to aspiring competitors. And will inspire many girls to do prep in a healthy and enjoyable way.
Gaah I just think you are all kinds of awesome, and freaking gorgeous :). I can’t wait to find what’s next in store for you<3.

    1. Maybe you’ve heard it many times before but it bears repeating: you’re amazing, girl. How far you’ve come and how you got there is inspiring for a lot of people – I’ll include myself here, You’ve got all the right to be SO proud of yourself! Until I read about your prep and experiences I admittedly thought of figure competitions as rather shallow only. I’m happy I found you because I can see it might be like that for some but then there are people like you with a true story of change and trust behind it all. Keep being an inspiration!

    1. I love this Brittany and I am happy you put this all out here. You will inspire so many girls and we need more role models like you!! Amazing job on the competition, congrats again!!
