How To Figure Out Your Path in Life

Don't know what you want to do with your life? Welcome to the club. Seriously, neither do a billion of us millennials. Sometimes I have this feeling where I'm like, "Oh, I'm only 23, it's fine". But most of the time, it goes a little something like this: "Shit. I'm already 23. Which means I'm almost 24. Which means I'm definitely officially old now." "I'm graduating college in 2.5 months, WHAT IS LIFE." "Do I even know what I want to do? Am I even going to, or want to use my degree?" Okay, obviously I'm exaggerating juuuuuust a bit, but I'm sure we've all had this feeling at some time in our young lives. First of all, breathe. It's okay if you're not really sure what you want to do with your life. It's completely normal, … [Read more...]

Will Getting Leaner Make You Happier?

You wake up, head over to the scale, weigh yourself, and BAM - your mood instantly declines. You look in the mirror and immediately, your eyes start scanning your body and your mind is only focusing on the things you don't like about yourself. All you can see is every imperfection, everything you don't like about your body, everything you want/wish you could change about it. You tell yourself "I'm going to get leaner, and then I'll be happy". Does this sound familiar to you? I know it does to me. I've been there, and I can tell you from first hand experience that leaner does NOT equal happier. In fact, it actually turns out quite the opposite. If you start your fitness journey hating your body, you certainly won't learn to love it … [Read more...]

Instead of New Years Resolutions, Focus on This

I never make "New Year's Resolutions". I have nothing against them, but let's be real, I completely forget about them in a couple of weeks. Yup, guilty. Resolutions can also mean "fixing a problem". Sure, we all got through shit in life. However, I don't things should necessarily be seen as problems that need fixing. A lot of people also tend to make resolutions based on themselves, which is the main reason why I don't think you need to think of yourself as a "problem". The good thing about a new year, is to leave whatever happened in the year before behind you. You live and you learn. Everything that happens in life is a learning opportunity, whether it was something good or something bad. That's life. Instead of making … [Read more...]

Blogging Year In Review

I have to admit, I didn't blog as much as I would like this year. Once my YouTube channel started to take off, blogging kind of took the back burner. When I first started blogging (gothextramile if any of you are MVP readers from back in the day), I was posting more lifestyle type posts - similar to what I did in the day, what I was eating, etc. Lately, my blog has kind of transitioned more into an informative type of blog focusing on specific topics. I really love writing, and I have a ton of ideas constantly floating in my mind. I'd love to hear some feedback from any of my readers about what you guys like to see. I want to focus more on blogging this year, in addition to YouTube, so having your input would mean the world! As for … [Read more...]

Review of the Polar A360

For a long time, I stopped wearing heart rate monitors of all kind. Why? Well, back in the day (I totally sound like I'm elderly), I would exercise and ONLY focus on how many calories I'm burning. I wouldn't leave the gym until I burned X amount of calories, and each time I worked out, that number would increase. It wasn't really a fun time, and it was completely liberating to just let go of any time of heart rate monitor. These days, I know better, and I know it's certainly not about burning a certain number of calories. I workout to feel strong, with a goal in mind, to just feel good, and to increase my strength. It's more about enjoying the workout and having fun with it! Once I found weight training, this is exactly what … [Read more...]

The First Time I Realized I Want to Be More Than Just Average

The "first time" is a tough time to actually pin-point, because there were actually multiple instances I've had this realization. I think as humans, it's natural for us to second guess everything, make certain decisions, take different paths than what we should, change our minds constantly, so on and so forth. That's life, and that's how we learn and how we really discover ourselves as well as the path we are supposed to take in life. "I want to be more than just average." Deep down I've always known this. Ever since I was little, I would talk about how I wanted to make it big, be known, and make a difference in this world - one way or another. I was never really sure how I would go about doing that, or what exactly it would be that would … [Read more...]

Top Five Gifts to Get for A Female Fitness Fanatic

I usually never do gift posts because I rarely even do gifts in my family. To me, the holiday's are about spending time with loved ones and Jesus. However, I do LOVE giving gifts, and these are some of my favorite things that I personally have myself and know that other fitness fanatics would love them as well!! I am not getting paid to share these products, but some of these include affiliate links. Thank you for supporting my blog as always :) Slingshot Hip Circle - I recently just bought this, and it is definitely one of the best purchase I've made in a while. I've been using it mostly for mobility & warming up before leg days, and I feel like it has helped a lot already! It can also be used while doing certain leg exercises … [Read more...]

Would You Give Up Sex for IBS Symptom Relief?

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by IBS in America. As always, all thoughts are my own.  Oh, IBS. I've been dealing with Irritable Bowel Syndrome for quite some time now, and I'm sure you all are aware. I've talked about it plenty of times on my social media channels that I often get emails from people who are also suffering and asking for advice. The crazy thing about IBS, is it seems to be like this mystery illness. No one knows why they have it, how to treat it, how to cope with it, and it's so very individualized. A lot of people also just feel defeated, myself included, and end up just learning to deal with it and try and forget about it. However, this shouldn't be the case. We should try to understand this condition more, … [Read more...]

Can You Reach Your Fitness Goals Without Tracking Macros?

Some of you reading this may be macro enthusiasts, and some of you may be asking "what the heck is a macro?" The other people may know what macros are and are just intrigued by the thought of tracking macros since the concept has truly blown up in the fitness industry lately. First of all, what is a macro? Macro is short for macronutrients, which in simpler terms, is what makes up the food you eat - proteins, carbs, and fats. IIFYM, or flexible dieting, is about weighing your food and accurately tracking those macro nutrients to hit a specific number each day. For some, this has allowed freedom (like myself) in terms of being able to eat what they want while still reaching their fitness goals. Flexible dieting has truly saved me from … [Read more...]

Vlogmas 2015 + Life Update

Hi Friends! I haven't had time to devote to writing up blog posts lately, mostly because I've been traveling across the country to my new home in Colorado! After over 2,000 miles of driving, 5 days, and 7 states later, I made it all the way from South Florida. It has been quite the adventure, with tons of crazy stuff that has happened along the way. Despite all of that, I'm so stoked for this next chapter in my life! I can't wait to see what Colorado has in store for me. But seriously, these mountains though..... I actually have a blog post coming up that will be all about how I traveled across the country on a BUDGET. This is important, because moving is VERY expensive. Top that with paying for it yourself (with no help … [Read more...]
