Packing Food for Travel

May 10, 2014

I may be having a very new, different, scary, and exciting life very soon..

Business attire and no yoga pants.. WHO AM I?!

I actually enjoyed it πŸ˜‰ I traveled to Dallas/Forth Worth for a job interview a few days ago, and I have to say it went VERY well. I don’t want to say anything just yet, but the new job will involve a LOT of traveling (which I love) as well as possible (most likely) relocating to a new city somewhere in the U.S. Oh, and this is a big girl full-time job! Ha ha. And no, it has nothing to do with health and fitness. I’m still offering my online personal training services, though! If you’re interested, check out my website.

If anyone knows me, they know how badly I want to get the heck out of Florida, so I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity.

Before I left for the airport on Wednesday, I hit the gym for a nice sweat sesh. I always make sure to get in a great workout before I fly, or else I get SUPER antsy and my butt goes numb. I did a non-stop biceps and triceps workout that made me drenched. Just how I like it.

I also made sure to refuel with a biiiiiig breakfast to recover from my workout.

Traveling and staying healthy can definitely get tricky. I’m actually leaving again for California tonight, so I’m back on the road! Some things that I always make sure to do before leaving on a trip.

Depending on when my flight leaves, I usually pack one or two tupperware meals to save money at the airport and avoid airport food while I can have some fresh meals. Of course, Starbucks is usually necessary.

I used to think I couldn’t pack meals and get them past security, but you certainly can! I even got through with a spoon which I thought they would think was a weapon or something silly. And stevia, which could be crack.

Other foods I pack:

  • Homemade protein bars (to eat first)
  • Pre-packaged bars like Quest, Nugo, or others
  • Nuts/Homemade Trail Mix
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Raw Veggies
  • Raw oats and protein powder if you want to save breakfast money some days
  • Other snacks
  • Stevia
  • WATER

Yes, I like to leave prepared πŸ˜‰

Traveling also dehydrates you, so make sure you have enough water and stay hydrated!

I leave for California tonight, so I’m going to do the same thing all over again.

    1. Great ideas in terms of what to pack for traveling. I always forget to pack snacks and have to pay ridiculous prices for air port food! And usually it’s mainly junk food πŸ™ I’ll have to remember this for when I travel this summer!

      Also, congrats on the job!!

    1. I always pack my food! People stare at me when I open my tupperware on the plane but I don’t mind. I even had my chicken and veggies and pancakes on my flight to NYC last year – no problem πŸ™‚

    1. The potential new job sounds so exciting – I’m crossing my fingers for you! I took a few Quest bars with me the last time I travelled – when I’m on a 15 hour flight (one of two to Australia!) and they only feed me twice, I’m going to be cranky unless I pack extra snacks!
