Reality of Bikini Prep – Will I Ever Compete Again?

This past weekend I competed in my second, and most likely, my last bikini competition. Prior to this weekend, I competed one other time in October of 2014. I had a decent prep and ended up winning my class at the show in 2014 and I thought I really enjoyed competing. I decided to take quite a bit of time off after my body not responding to another prep that I tried to start in February of 2015. I ended up taking over a year off, and it was definitely needed in order to make the improvements I needed. I decided to try to prep again in January 2016, and I decided I was going to compete no matter what. Well, little did I know, my body wasn't going to respond once again to dieting and prepping and I had one of the hardest preps … [Read more...]

LA Fit Expo Experience

Wow. So usually on this blog I've been keeping it less and less like a day-in-the life type of blog and more of a topic/informative post type of blog. However, this was something I just had to share and document with you all. I decided very last minute to go to the LA Fit Expo, even though it was a super short trip. I always say I want to go to expos but never do, either because of work, money, or all of the above. I vowed to myself to be more spontaneous this year, and I certainly have gotten off on a great foot already. I knew I wanted to experience an expo, and I also wanted to meet all of my fellow internet friends (other you tubers, bloggers, and instagram friends) as well as all of my subscribers/followers. So last minute I said … [Read more...]

Vlogmas 2015 + Life Update

Hi Friends! I haven't had time to devote to writing up blog posts lately, mostly because I've been traveling across the country to my new home in Colorado! After over 2,000 miles of driving, 5 days, and 7 states later, I made it all the way from South Florida. It has been quite the adventure, with tons of crazy stuff that has happened along the way. Despite all of that, I'm so stoked for this next chapter in my life! I can't wait to see what Colorado has in store for me. But seriously, these mountains though..... I actually have a blog post coming up that will be all about how I traveled across the country on a BUDGET. This is important, because moving is VERY expensive. Top that with paying for it yourself (with no help … [Read more...]

Lean Legs Plyometric Workout

I've decided to add in a plyometric day once a week into my training schedule. I've been working legs about 2-3x per week - one day focused on quads and calves, the other day focus on glutes and hamstring, and the last day either focused only on glutes or a plyo workout. "Plyometrics, also known as "jump training" or "plyos", are exercises in which muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time, with the goal of increasing power (speed-strength). This training focuses on learning to move from a muscle extension to a contraction in a rapid or "explosive" manner, such as in specialized repeated jumping." (WebMD). Personally I love these because they are a mix between strengthening your muscles, while also increasing your heart … [Read more...]

Thinking Out Loud

Good morning friends, happy Thursday! I haven't linked up for thinking out loud over at the lovely Amanda's blog for quite some time, so I figured it'd be a good time to bring it back. I always love random things that are on people's mind, so hopefully you guys do as well. 1. My lovely friend Sarah at A Loving Spoon sent me some of her honey vanilla bourbon peanut butter.. SO GOOD. It's honestly like nothing I've ever tasted, and I love that! Not only that, but she is partnered with 147 Million Orphans and a Love+ 1 Food Project – Haiti. 10c of each jar purchased goes to them. 2. I GOT A FANNY PACK. Hear me out. You know how most people hate arm bands to store their phone during a workout? Um yeah, this is genius. Store your phone in … [Read more...]

Screw you, society.

My most recent YouTube video I go on a serious rant about body shaming and how it should not be tolerated any more. I share a few stories of what I have been through, and I just want it to stop. I'd love for you all to check it out. <3 … [Read more...]

Strawberry-Apple Cinnamon Protein Muffins

I always say I'm going to start coming up with more healthy recipes and never happens. I love to bake though, and especially make my own homemade healthy protein bars. I love my store bought bars but dang, they can get expensive. I'm all about saving money where I can, and making your own protein treats are definitely the way to go. I finally had a chance to come up with a new recipe the other day on my day off. I basically threw a bunch of ingredients that I had at home into a bowl, mixed it, added in some chocolate chips, and luckily it was a success! I'm so professional. At least I'm honest, right? I'll never be a legit chef, but I can pretend ;) These muffins have almost an equal amount of carbs and protein, and … [Read more...]

Do You Need Supplements to Reach Your Fitness Goals?

So you're scrolling through instagram and you see photo after photo of all these people promoting different supplements. Maybe they're ripped and shredded and they swear by this specific supplement they are showing off. "You NEED this in order to achieve ______, build muscle, burn fat, etc. use my code LEANASFUH for 25% off!" Newsflash, you don't need any supplements to reach your goals. This is coming from someone who is sponsored by a supplement company. No, you absolutely do not need to buy any, and you certainly can reach your goals without them. Creatine isn't some magical drug that will build muscle or lose fat. Fat burners will not make you lose a ton of weight. Protein powder isn't necessary in one's diet. BCAA's aren't … [Read more...]

Embrace Your Flaws

If you guys follow me on instagram, you probably saw the last post I posted talking about my flaws. Yup, I pointed out just a few of the many flaws that I have. The other day I posted a transformation picture showing how far I've come physically AND mentally. I post these transformations in hopes of inspiring others that they CAN reach their goals, whatever it may be. The picture on the left I had just started lifting, was eating too little calories, and just stopped running a ton of miles. The picture on the left was recent - barely any cardio, eating much more calories, healthy, and STRONG both physically and mentally. Well, low and behold, someone went out of their way to say "your legs look much fatter". Well, thank you sir, I … [Read more...]
