When and Why to Forget About “Balance”

Balance. I feel like this is a word thrown around a lot lately, and everyone is talking about it - either finding balance, having balance, what is balance even, etc. Lets start with what is balance? Well, I'm sure it will mean something different to everyone, very much like the word "healthy" is different to everyone. Lets start with a fitness example, of course. Some people may think balance means not counting their macros and exercising how and when they want, but some people may feel more balanced when they do count their macros and having a specific plan to follow. Neither way is right or wrong, it's just different to different people. I feel like there is a lot of tension around this word, very much like there is a lot of tension … [Read more...]

LA Fit Expo Experience

Wow. So usually on this blog I've been keeping it less and less like a day-in-the life type of blog and more of a topic/informative post type of blog. However, this was something I just had to share and document with you all. I decided very last minute to go to the LA Fit Expo, even though it was a super short trip. I always say I want to go to expos but never do, either because of work, money, or all of the above. I vowed to myself to be more spontaneous this year, and I certainly have gotten off on a great foot already. I knew I wanted to experience an expo, and I also wanted to meet all of my fellow internet friends (other you tubers, bloggers, and instagram friends) as well as all of my subscribers/followers. So last minute I said … [Read more...]

How To Figure Out Your Path in Life

Don't know what you want to do with your life? Welcome to the club. Seriously, neither do a billion of us millennials. Sometimes I have this feeling where I'm like, "Oh, I'm only 23, it's fine". But most of the time, it goes a little something like this: "Shit. I'm already 23. Which means I'm almost 24. Which means I'm definitely officially old now." "I'm graduating college in 2.5 months, WHAT IS LIFE." "Do I even know what I want to do? Am I even going to, or want to use my degree?" Okay, obviously I'm exaggerating juuuuuust a bit, but I'm sure we've all had this feeling at some time in our young lives. First of all, breathe. It's okay if you're not really sure what you want to do with your life. It's completely normal, … [Read more...]

Instead of New Years Resolutions, Focus on This

I never make "New Year's Resolutions". I have nothing against them, but let's be real, I completely forget about them in a couple of weeks. Yup, guilty. Resolutions can also mean "fixing a problem". Sure, we all got through shit in life. However, I don't things should necessarily be seen as problems that need fixing. A lot of people also tend to make resolutions based on themselves, which is the main reason why I don't think you need to think of yourself as a "problem". The good thing about a new year, is to leave whatever happened in the year before behind you. You live and you learn. Everything that happens in life is a learning opportunity, whether it was something good or something bad. That's life. Instead of making … [Read more...]

Can You Reach Your Fitness Goals Without Tracking Macros?

Some of you reading this may be macro enthusiasts, and some of you may be asking "what the heck is a macro?" The other people may know what macros are and are just intrigued by the thought of tracking macros since the concept has truly blown up in the fitness industry lately. First of all, what is a macro? Macro is short for macronutrients, which in simpler terms, is what makes up the food you eat - proteins, carbs, and fats. IIFYM, or flexible dieting, is about weighing your food and accurately tracking those macro nutrients to hit a specific number each day. For some, this has allowed freedom (like myself) in terms of being able to eat what they want while still reaching their fitness goals. Flexible dieting has truly saved me from … [Read more...]

Vlogmas 2015 + Life Update

Hi Friends! I haven't had time to devote to writing up blog posts lately, mostly because I've been traveling across the country to my new home in Colorado! After over 2,000 miles of driving, 5 days, and 7 states later, I made it all the way from South Florida. It has been quite the adventure, with tons of crazy stuff that has happened along the way. Despite all of that, I'm so stoked for this next chapter in my life! I can't wait to see what Colorado has in store for me. But seriously, these mountains though..... I actually have a blog post coming up that will be all about how I traveled across the country on a BUDGET. This is important, because moving is VERY expensive. Top that with paying for it yourself (with no help … [Read more...]

My ONE Tip to Help You Stop Worrying So Much

Worry. We ALL do it, usually without even realizing we are. It is a natural instinct for us to do whenever we are stressed or feel overwhelmed. I sure as heck am very guilty of worrying, especially since I have, and do, struggle with anxiety sometimes. I have to admit though, I have gotten so much better at learning NOT to worry so much. There are some things in life that we can change, and there are some things in life that we cannot change. There are also some things in life that we are not expecting at all, causing extra stress and overwhelming feelings. That's life, and it happens to all of us. The one thing that has truly helped me stop worrying so much is asking myself "will worrying HELP me and/or this situation?" Almost 100% of … [Read more...]

How To Not Allow Fear Hold You Back in Life

Lets talk fear. Even saying the word can get your skin crawling, no? I know it does for me. I feel as if everyone can relate to fear in various different ways and for various different situations. Sure, it can mean something you have a literal fear of, such as heights, or cockroaches lets say. However, the type of fear I'm talking about is the one that hold's you back from the things you want to do and accomplish in your life. You know, the siamese twin to the phrase "what if". Don't even get me started on this "what if" character. It certainly has the ability to dictate the decisions you make in your life - I know it has for me in the past. Have you ever wanted to do something, but you were afraid that you were going to fail? Yup. I'm … [Read more...]

How To Eat Healthy On A Budget

I have a confession to make... I don't set a budget for myself for groceries. I know, it's bad. I tend to spend most of my money on food because it's important to me! It's one of those things where I say I'd rather invest in good, healthy food instead of other things like getting my nails done, buying clothes, etc. However, I have to admit I do spend more than I probably need to. It's also pretty common to hear people saying they can't afford to eat healthy. There are so many ways to save money on groceries, so that's what I'm here to share with you all. Lets jump right into it! 1. Shop locally, such as at the Farmer's Market. Buying foods from local farmers are much cheaper, and more fresh, than buying them from the … [Read more...]

Ways to Measure Progress Besides the Scale

So I started a "mini-cut" about four weeks ago, and you want to know something funny? Well, it's not really funny. But it kind of is. The scale has not moved.. AT ALL. I mean, of course it has been fluctuating as usual, but in the grand scheme of things I'm pretty much the same weight. Back in the day, I would have been DEVASTATED over this. These days, I really don't care. I feel really good, and I know i'm making progress because of the other ways I measure my progress. The funny thing about the scale is yes, it is a good measure of progress. However, it is not the ONLY way to measure progress. So many people get so caught up in the number on the scale and if it doesn't move at all, or as fast as they'd like, they think they are … [Read more...]
