Reality of Bikini Prep – Will I Ever Compete Again?

This past weekend I competed in my second, and most likely, my last bikini competition. Prior to this weekend, I competed one other time in October of 2014. I had a decent prep and ended up winning my class at the show in 2014 and I thought I really enjoyed competing. I decided to take quite a bit of time off after my body not responding to another prep that I tried to start in February of 2015. I ended up taking over a year off, and it was definitely needed in order to make the improvements I needed. I decided to try to prep again in January 2016, and I decided I was going to compete no matter what. Well, little did I know, my body wasn't going to respond once again to dieting and prepping and I had one of the hardest preps … [Read more...]

When and Why to Forget About “Balance”

Balance. I feel like this is a word thrown around a lot lately, and everyone is talking about it - either finding balance, having balance, what is balance even, etc. Lets start with what is balance? Well, I'm sure it will mean something different to everyone, very much like the word "healthy" is different to everyone. Lets start with a fitness example, of course. Some people may think balance means not counting their macros and exercising how and when they want, but some people may feel more balanced when they do count their macros and having a specific plan to follow. Neither way is right or wrong, it's just different to different people. I feel like there is a lot of tension around this word, very much like there is a lot of tension … [Read more...]

LA Fit Expo Experience

Wow. So usually on this blog I've been keeping it less and less like a day-in-the life type of blog and more of a topic/informative post type of blog. However, this was something I just had to share and document with you all. I decided very last minute to go to the LA Fit Expo, even though it was a super short trip. I always say I want to go to expos but never do, either because of work, money, or all of the above. I vowed to myself to be more spontaneous this year, and I certainly have gotten off on a great foot already. I knew I wanted to experience an expo, and I also wanted to meet all of my fellow internet friends (other you tubers, bloggers, and instagram friends) as well as all of my subscribers/followers. So last minute I said … [Read more...]

How To Figure Out Your Path in Life

Don't know what you want to do with your life? Welcome to the club. Seriously, neither do a billion of us millennials. Sometimes I have this feeling where I'm like, "Oh, I'm only 23, it's fine". But most of the time, it goes a little something like this: "Shit. I'm already 23. Which means I'm almost 24. Which means I'm definitely officially old now." "I'm graduating college in 2.5 months, WHAT IS LIFE." "Do I even know what I want to do? Am I even going to, or want to use my degree?" Okay, obviously I'm exaggerating juuuuuust a bit, but I'm sure we've all had this feeling at some time in our young lives. First of all, breathe. It's okay if you're not really sure what you want to do with your life. It's completely normal, … [Read more...]

Will Getting Leaner Make You Happier?

You wake up, head over to the scale, weigh yourself, and BAM - your mood instantly declines. You look in the mirror and immediately, your eyes start scanning your body and your mind is only focusing on the things you don't like about yourself. All you can see is every imperfection, everything you don't like about your body, everything you want/wish you could change about it. You tell yourself "I'm going to get leaner, and then I'll be happy". Does this sound familiar to you? I know it does to me. I've been there, and I can tell you from first hand experience that leaner does NOT equal happier. In fact, it actually turns out quite the opposite. If you start your fitness journey hating your body, you certainly won't learn to love it … [Read more...]

Instead of New Years Resolutions, Focus on This

I never make "New Year's Resolutions". I have nothing against them, but let's be real, I completely forget about them in a couple of weeks. Yup, guilty. Resolutions can also mean "fixing a problem". Sure, we all got through shit in life. However, I don't things should necessarily be seen as problems that need fixing. A lot of people also tend to make resolutions based on themselves, which is the main reason why I don't think you need to think of yourself as a "problem". The good thing about a new year, is to leave whatever happened in the year before behind you. You live and you learn. Everything that happens in life is a learning opportunity, whether it was something good or something bad. That's life. Instead of making … [Read more...]

The First Time I Realized I Want to Be More Than Just Average

The "first time" is a tough time to actually pin-point, because there were actually multiple instances I've had this realization. I think as humans, it's natural for us to second guess everything, make certain decisions, take different paths than what we should, change our minds constantly, so on and so forth. That's life, and that's how we learn and how we really discover ourselves as well as the path we are supposed to take in life. "I want to be more than just average." Deep down I've always known this. Ever since I was little, I would talk about how I wanted to make it big, be known, and make a difference in this world - one way or another. I was never really sure how I would go about doing that, or what exactly it would be that would … [Read more...]

Can You Reach Your Fitness Goals Without Tracking Macros?

Some of you reading this may be macro enthusiasts, and some of you may be asking "what the heck is a macro?" The other people may know what macros are and are just intrigued by the thought of tracking macros since the concept has truly blown up in the fitness industry lately. First of all, what is a macro? Macro is short for macronutrients, which in simpler terms, is what makes up the food you eat - proteins, carbs, and fats. IIFYM, or flexible dieting, is about weighing your food and accurately tracking those macro nutrients to hit a specific number each day. For some, this has allowed freedom (like myself) in terms of being able to eat what they want while still reaching their fitness goals. Flexible dieting has truly saved me from … [Read more...]

Vlogmas 2015 + Life Update

Hi Friends! I haven't had time to devote to writing up blog posts lately, mostly because I've been traveling across the country to my new home in Colorado! After over 2,000 miles of driving, 5 days, and 7 states later, I made it all the way from South Florida. It has been quite the adventure, with tons of crazy stuff that has happened along the way. Despite all of that, I'm so stoked for this next chapter in my life! I can't wait to see what Colorado has in store for me. But seriously, these mountains though..... I actually have a blog post coming up that will be all about how I traveled across the country on a BUDGET. This is important, because moving is VERY expensive. Top that with paying for it yourself (with no help … [Read more...]
