What I Ate in Chicago

November 26, 2014

It’s been a total of about 2-3 days since Chicago and I’m pretty sure the depression has already set in. I had the best time, and Florida is just way too boring, hot, humid, and ugly. Every time I travel, it reconfirms the fact that I MUST get out of Florida. And I will, very soon.

Anyway, enough of me complaining. Lets get to the FOOD. No, I didn’t track a single macro this weekend and I ate whatever I wanted. It’s all about balance, people. Make sure you link up with Jenn and join in!

I love that cities have so many places to eat, and majority of the places aren’t just chain restaurants like we get here in Florida. Finding and trying new things is one of my favorite parts about dining while traveling.

Veggie omelet with coffee and fruit.

Steak salad with goat cheese and nuts. So good. Plus a side of red wine!

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

DEEP.DISH.PIZZA. That is all.

Scrambled eggs with a side of english muffin with butter. And coffee, of course.

Latte and cappucino! I got the latte (on the right), no idea what type of milk was in it, but it was delicious. Plus I got it for free, so that always makes it taste better. Ha.

Whole foods! I know, I know.. you can get this anywhere. But we wanted a light lunch one day and thought salads sounded great. I haven’t had it in forever, so it worked.

Half of a chicken (HUGE) and veggies.

Two eggs plus home fries and coffee.

This was legit the best salad ever. It had salmon, dried cranberries, goat cheese, walnuts, sunflower seeds, edamame, and veggies. Plus a side of coffee (ok, I may have overdosed this weekend – what else is new).

And the famous garrett’s popcorn! My mom got the plain, and I tried the caramel pecan. SO good!

This was everything I captured, and of course everything was amazing. Especially the pizza – I highly recommend Lou Malnatti’s if you’re ever in Chicago.

Have you ever had deep dish?

What about a fancy coffee drink?

    1. SO glad that you ate so well in the city! And that looks like Wildberry’s to me…? Lou Malnati’s is great, too. That crust (love Gino’s as well). Youa re welcome to come back–right now it is in the 20s!

      1. No, I didn’t get a chance to check out Wildberry’s! I wish! I so will be back 😀

    1. Okay so Chicago looks freaking delicious. And sometimes I can’t help but wonder how people can live in a place that’s so.dang.hot all the time. Like, I loved Hawaii when I went to visit, but I’m not sure I could live there full time. Then again, I’m pretty sure people wonder the same thing about where I live and the cold 😆

      1. Girl, I ask myself this everyday. IT’S TOO HOT LOL.

    1. As delicious as Chicago style pizza is, my heart will forever be with New York style pizza. But hey if you can’t get NY, at least enjoy what Chicago has to offer 🙂

    1. Mmm your vacation eats look delicious! A nice balance of healthy and indulgence 🙂 I have tried Chicago deep dish, but I think I actually prefer New York style 🙂

      1. Exactly!! So many people have said that, I need to get NY pizza!

    1. Hey Brittany,
What part of the FLA do you live in?
It’s so funny to me to hear the way you talk about Florida. Ive lived here all my life minus 6 years in Austin TX and I came back as quick as I could!
      Paradise, Endless Summer!
There are tons and tons of indie restaurants where I am too.
      I live in Ft Laud.
Maybe you’d like a different area better?

      (Team NY pizza!)

      1. Haha really? I’ve lived here all my life and I hate it. So boring, hot, humid, and too many old people. I grew up in Ft. Laud actually! I’m currently in Palm Beach. All of Florida is the same to me, but I do like Palm Beach MUCH better than Broward!

    1. I’ve had deep dish pizza in Chicago as well – sooo good! However I must say I’m a New York pizza girl through and through 😉 gotta represent, haha

      1. My family is from NY and they say the same thing.. I’ve never had it though, definitely must try!

    1. Italian Pizza is without a doubt the best, bviously 😉 Thin and crisp crust and not a ton of cheese, that’s the way to go.
